About the Writer

Priya Atwal
Hi! I'm Priya, I'm a PhD student reading History at the University of Oxford. My research currently specialises in nineteenth-century Anglo-Indian royal relations, and focuses on the ties between the royal houses of Maharajah Ranjit Singh and Queen Victoria. My academic studies and doctoral research have provided me with a fantastic opportunity to read and explore the history of Sikh women, and the development of feminist/gender debates in relation to Sikh and Punjab Studies.

It is this experience that has enabled me to produce this blog, bringing together as many fascinating resources as possible - I hope you will enjoy learning from these as much as I have! Above all, the rich material that exists about Sikh women (past and present) has been deeply inspiring and empowering for me, and I would love for more people to have access to this wonderful work.
